Project Manager II – Utilities

 

Location Options:

·      Orlando SE Orlando Operations Center – Orlando, FL (Lakeland/Lake Wales/Sebring/Kissimmee/Lake Buena Vista/Orlando/Conway area)

·      Florida Regional Headquarters – St. Petersburg, FL (St Petersburg/Largo/Clearwater area)

Description:

This position has responsibility for managing and directing a team to support the Targeted Underground Program as part of the Grid Improvement Investment and Storm Protection Plan for Florida. The PM will be responsible to coordinate all activities to execute assigned scopes of work and will require coordination with key stakeholders to ensure all project success factors are met. These projects require significant customer-facing interactions.

Responsibilities and Duties:

• Review, evaluate and formulate project plans, schedules and budgets

• Organize and guide project execution through use of methodologies accepted by the industry

• Evaluate status and report progress in terms of quality and performance metrics common to reporting structure of Grid Improvement investment and Storm Protection Plan

• Work with public engagement, technical designer, and land agent to effectively engage customer and the public regarding the project

• Collaborates with Project Controls, E&TRC, Resource Management, and Contract Operations teams to ensure coordination and effective execution of the projects

Education Requirement: Four-year degree – Business, Finance, Project Management, Engineering, technical, or equivalent OR 9 years of work-related experience in lieu of a degree.

Desired Qualifications:

• Customer service experience

• Electric Distribution experience

• Proficiency in MS Project Server 2010, 0365 Office products and Visio

• Strong analytical and technical skills

• Demonstrated interpersonal, human relations and communication skills to work effectively with customers, peers, direct reports and management

• Ability to communicate clearly, concisely, and accurately using oral and written communications

• Demonstrated collaboration skills to foster effective working relationships with the team and customers

• Demonstrated leadership skills to establish and maintain a motivated and productive project team

• Previous utility experience, preferable with Duke Energy

• Project Management Professional (PMP) certification

• Agile project delivery approach / scrum coach / scrum master experience

• Demonstrated effective project management skills especially planning and directing work efforts, and motiving teammates

Working Conditions:

• Available for travel and to support after-hours events

• Frequent travel to construction sites to meet with crews and customers

• Available to serve on an “on-call” basis

• Combination of a field and office environment

• Driving on average 100 miles/day when in field
