Operational Accounting Analyst

Charlotte, NC (Hybrid – 3 days onsite)

Compensation: $26-27 per hour

6-month Contract (potential to extend)

ABOUT THE ROLE

Our client is seeking an Operational Accounting Analyst for a 6-month contract in Charlotte, NC, with a hybrid work arrangement (3 days onsite). This role supports Commercial Loan Servicing by performing day-to-day operational accounting activities related to loan fees, ensuring accurate, timely posting and reconciliation of charges to ABL loan accounts. The position focuses on execution, cleanup, and ongoing maintenance of fee activity using Excel-based tracking and established procedures. The analyst will play a key role in tracking, reconciling, and maintaining fee transactions, supporting loan servicing representatives, and ensuring all fee activity is current and accurate.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Track, reconcile, and post loan-related fees to customer accounts
  • Ensure accurate and timely entry of debits and credits
  • Maintain and manage Excel-based fee tracking spreadsheets
  • Identify missing or previously unbilled fees and support cleanup efforts
  • Reconcile fee activity and ensure account balances align
  • Work closely with team members and designated contacts to meet deadlines and execution requirements
  • Support Loan Servicing representatives by ensuring fees are correctly reflected in customer accounts
  • Conduct basic research to understand fee types and billing requirements
  • Flag issues or inconsistencies for escalation (not expected to resolve independently)
  • Maintain current and accurate fee activity records after historical cleanup

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field OR equivalent operational experience
  • 0–3 years of experience in accounting operations, finance support, or similar role
  • Strong Excel skills, including use of existing formulas, pivot tables, and reconciliation templates
  • Understanding of debits and credits
  • Strong attention to detail and discipline in meeting deadlines
  • Ability to take direction and work independently
  • Internship or early experience in financial services (nice-to-have)
  • Exposure to reconciliations or operational accounting (nice-to-have)
  • Experience working with large spreadsheets and high-volume data (nice-to-have)
