ABOUT THE ROLE

Our client is seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Space Planner to join their team on a contract basis, working in a hybrid capacity out of Brentwood, TN. As a Space Planner, you will be responsible for developing, managing, and optimizing all clustered merchandise planograms, ensuring alignment with company strategies, space requirements, and store clustering. You will manage promotional and display space planograms, maintain master data for product replenishment, and support inventory management and merchant teams with analytics and reporting. This role requires close collaboration with merchandising, marketing, store operations, and vendor partners to optimize store assortments and presentations. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in space planning, proficiency with space management systems, and the ability to quickly learn new technologies.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Create and manage all planograms (inline, promotional, and display) using space management systems (currently JDA/Intactix/Blue Yonder) to meet company and Petsense standards.
  • Develop clustered merchandise planograms based on product assortments, store clustering, store layout, productivity, and other parameters to align with space requirements and company strategies.
  • Maintain and update master data within planograms, including SKU and site-level replenishment codes, shelf label or strip printing, fixture requirements, product dimensions, images, and other product details.
  • Manage all visual and space aspects of merchandising programs, ensuring data accuracy and consistency across multiple systems (SAP/IKB) when creating and maintaining planograms, store-to-planogram assignments, and SKU-to-planogram assignments.
  • Support the line review process (full, partial, and patch) to keep all participants updated and on schedule for execution of planogram and SDI information.
  • Develop planograms that are visually appealing, easy to shop, risk-averse, and simple for stores to set and maintain.
  • Analyze store, department, and planogram performance to optimize assortments, space allocation, and SKU counts based on store clusters, demographic attributes, capacity requirements, sales per square foot, and other relevant metrics.
  • Provide analytics and reporting to support inventory management, including minimums, maximums, depth, holding capacity, and incorporating external data (e.g., store maps) to support optimal inventory in stores.
  • Validate that merchant team assortment plans accurately reflect created planograms, including SKU assignments, initial set quantities, and compliance with space and legal restrictions.
  • Coordinate the handoff for ordering to ensure site/SKU combinations match planograms.
  • Organize and manage all supporting documentation for planogram development and cluster assignments, including authorized planogram copies, communication documents, and resources for planogram execution.
  • Collaborate with merchant, marketing, store operations teams, and vendor partners to determine and coordinate displayed item assortments and presentations.
  • Oversee the New Store Opening process to ensure new stores have correct planograms and shelf labels/strips based on store attributes and geographic location.
  • Partner with retail store planners to develop and maintain accurate store layouts, ensuring planogram fixture requirements and naming conventions match floor plans.
  • Engage with TSCO visual and space organizations to ensure Petsense is included in relevant technology or process development discussions.
  • Assist stores with space and presentation inquiries through the ticket portal.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • 3+ years of experience in space planning or systems experience (planograms).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, with the ability to quickly learn new technology.
  • Experience with space management systems such as JDA/Intactix/Blue Yonder.
  • Strong analytical skills for planogram and POS data analysis, with the ability to optimize assortments and space allocation.
  • Ability to manage and maintain master data for product replenishment and planogram execution.
  • Excellent organizational skills for managing documentation and planogram assignments.
  • Effective collaboration skills with merchandising, marketing, store operations, and vendor teams.
  • Knowledge of IKB or other SMS software (preferred).
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.) (preferred).
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or equivalent work experience (preferred).
